Mr. Dominique Strauss-Kahn, managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), named Mr. Zhu Min, currently Vice President of the People's Bank of China, as a special advisor to the Managing Director.
"Zhu Min brings a wealth of experience in government and the financial sector, "Kahn said, "As an advisor, he will play an important role in working with me and my management team in meeting the challenges facing or global membership in the period ahead, and in strengthening the Fund's understanding of Asia and emerging markets more generally."
The People's Bank of China welcomes IMF's decision. With merging markets and developing countries have played a more important role in the world's economy and financial system, it is a good move for the IMF to include more professionals to reflect the changes in the world's economic structure and to improve their governance.
Zhu Min has been engaged in the research of economics and financial theories, and he has rich experiences in financial practices and management as well. He participated in major financial reforms in China and has served in senior positions for both financial institutions and the central bank, which brought him profound understanding in macroeconomic management, financial market and regulations. His service in international institutions such as the World Bank also adds to his knowledge in financial field.
Mr. Zhu Min thanks for the invitation. He says he will contribute his efforts to introduce experiences from emerging market economies and Asia and promoting the sustainable growth and financial stabilities with his colleagues at the IMF.
