Okada, U.S. Official Meet over Iran, N. Korean Issue
Japanese Foreign Minister Katsuya Okada met with visiting U.S. Deputy Secretary of State James Steinberg to deal with the Iranian and North Korean nuclear standoffs.
Japanese Foreign Minister Katsuya Okada met with visiting U.S. Deputy Secretary of State James Steinberg on Friday morning and both parties agreed to coordinate efforts to deal with the Iranian and North Korean nuclear standoffs.
Okada and Steinberg reaffirmed the importance of the Japan-U.S. security agreements and agreed to negotiate on the relocation plan of the Futemma facility.
Steinberg told the press after the meeting that Japan is an important partner of U.S. and both sides would like to strengthen cooperation to deal with difficult issues.
Steinberg arrived in Tokyo late on Mar.4 for a two days' visit.
