The volume of China’s solar photo-thermal market will reach 22.5 – 30 trillion yuan by 2020, generating 30 percent to 40 percent of the total electricity, Caijing learned.

The utilization of 80,000 square meters’ solar energy will cover the total electricity consumption last year in China, and the solar energy falling on a 1,500-square meter plot of ground is equal with the total electricity generated by the world’s largest dam, the Three Gorges, experts told our reporters.

The core technologies in the chains of solar photo-thermal industry, however, are still controlled by foreign enterprises, said a chief from a Chinese solar energy company.

It will seriously hinder the large-scale development of this industry, he added.
