Yi Chun flight between life and death

The air crash of August 24th , 2010 put an end to the proud 2,102-day flight
safety record of the CAAC (Civil Aviation Administration of China). The general
manager of Henan Airlines Co. Ltd, owner of the flight VD8387, has been relieved
of his post. It is suspected that the causes of this crash may include
deficiencies in the ground navigation equipment and the instrument landing
system; the failure of the altimeter; the poor physical state of the pilots; and
the wind conditions during landing. These speculations need to be addressed by
the concerned officials. A CAAC official defended his organization, saying that
claims that the Yi Chun Airport was unsuitable for night flight were incorrect.
Our reporter was told that the causes of this crash were complicated. There may
be problems existing both in the control tower and on the ground. It may be
equally worth mentioning administrative factors; some leaders were waiting on
the ground for the arrival of important guests arriving on the flight.
