To be honest I don’t know why I had it, I just felt like everyone had it and it was just something adults paid for. My wife and I spent $16.19 a month on Amazon Prime and in 2025 have only bought 15 items off of Amazon. This means that we were paying $8.63 in shipping per order on average just to get it faster? Not worth it. I am so happy to have finally gotten rid of this payment and we are saving close to $200 a year now. Have y’all done the same?
After many years, I finally cancelled Amazon Prime!

I buy from Amazon, but the prime video is a bonus for me.

Good call! I think a lot of us sign up for Prime almost by default, it feels like part of being an ‘adult subscription bundle’ alongside Netflix and Spotify. But when you actually break down the cost per use like you did, it’s eye opening.
I cancelled mine last year for the same reason, I wasn’t ordering enough to justify it. Turns out waiting 3–5 days instead of 2 isn’t the end of the world.
Funny thing is, after cancelling, I also started shopping *less* on Amazon because I didn’t feel the need to get my money’s worth out of Prime. So it saved me more than just the subscription fee.
I cancelled months ago and haven’t looked back. Now I just order when I have 35+ dollars worth of stuff for free shipping, it usually always comes early too.
I, myself, haven’t used Amazon in over 5 years.
My husband signed up for the Prime trial they offered, and it took 3 or 4 days to get his order.
We use Walmart+ the most, and it even gets delivered faster than Amazon, most times. Sometimes it arrives the same day, but usually the next day. It’s about $99 per year, but we use it a lot, so it’s worth it for us. We’re cancelling it this year, though since there’s a Walmart nearby anyway…unless they offer a cheaper “bribe” to get us to sign up again.
I’m only doing a couple months total 1 month of Hulu then one month of YouTube tv a year. I am a prime member maybe I should try to apply this.
