This Minneapolis shooting has me questioning some things about insurance.
Let's say that the Minneapolis shooter(not gonna name names notoriety helps create these people). Was killed by police while he was committing that atrocity. It was ruled a justified killing etc. Let's say his parents had a life insurance policy out on the shooter. Would there be anything that would prevent them from collecting the insurance payout?
There's some laws that preclude you from receiving the payout if you died while committing a crime. But im not sure specifics. Personally im from Canada, so the rules also may differ.
Would a shooters family still be able to collect life insurance on them?

Depends on the policy language, but yes there can be an exclusion if you die during the commission of a crime.
A lot of insurance policies will not cover for suicide, even if they did for death during criminal acts.
