Hi everyone,

I'm feeling quite anxious about a situation and would really appreciate some advice from anyone who might have experience with this. I'm based in the UK if that makes a difference to the advice.

A few weeks ago, I submitted an insurance claim for £500, but then realised I'd made an error and shouldn't have claimed. I immediately withdrew the claim before any payment was made. However, the insurance company has now asked me to attend an interview with one of their investigators, which has me worried they might suspect fraudulent activity.

I have anxiety anyway, so this whole situation is really stressing me out.

What happens if I don't attend this interview? Could refusing make things worse – like them involving the police?

Thanks in advance for any guidance – I'm probably overthinking this but would feel much better knowing what to expect.

    Best regards

Police? Probably unlikely as they don’t really have evidence of fraud, just suspicion. Now if you don’t go or refuse they will drop you from coverage.

This is a legal question.. not an insurance one.

Do you think they are interviewing you to confirm that you did _not_ do anything illegal?

My guess is that they won’t be renewing your policy.
