    1. This really is a shame, but I have zero empathy left for these people. Donald Trump was very clear about what he was going to do to this country from an economic point of view. And just because these people only heard the parts that they wanted and ignored the rest is not an excuse. They are simpletons who are getting what they voted for.

It’s too bad that people in this country have chosen to be purposefully ignorant and can’t wrap their heads around the fact that Trump is a failed businessman and grifter who has been lying to them all along, and using his position to enrich him and his family . The only way this gets fixed is for his policies to hurt his supporters so bad that they themselves choose to get rid of it.

    2. They are welfare kings. They get hammered then magically get billions in subsidies for over planting feed crops or crappy ethanol producing corn. We are all screwed with Trump and his handlers but as all ships sink together at the at least they also pay for their choices.

    3. I don’t know how aggressive I’d be about but the reality is that there is more food produced in the world than people are willing to buy. Tariffs make it more difficult but the problem is fundamental. There is more grain farming in the world than can be paid for.

    4. Ever go to McDonalds and mock the person taking your order? Ever wonder what they do to your food?

One of the universal rules in the world is “Don’t mess with people who handle your food”.

    5. > “Mr. Trump, you looked at me and said, ‘I love you,’” Woodruff County farmer Chris King said. “Mr. Trump, I need to see the fruit of your love.”

      Mind-blowing quote

    6. Why aren’t they wearing their red hats now? Did they have to check them at the door? Trump has killed the export market and USAID purchases for soybeans which is what I think they grow in Arkansas, scared away farm labour, put tariffs on supplies like seed and potash.

    7. Here is the thing I will be really pissed if somehow these farmers get bailed out but the rest of us still have to suffer through these Tariffs.

But I wouldn’t be surprised if that happens.

    8. “Major Major’s father was a sober God-fearing man whose idea of a good joke was to lie about his age. He was a long-limbed farmer, a God-fearing, freedom-loving, law-abiding rugged individualist who held that federal aid to anyone but farmers was creeping socialism. He advocated thrift and hard work and disapproved of loose women who turned him down. His specialty was alfalfa, and he made a good thing out of not growing any. The government paid him well for every bushel of alfalfa he did not grow. The more alfalfa he did not grow, the more money the government gave him, and he spent every penny he didn’t earn on new land to increase the amount of alfalfa he did not produce. Major Major’s father worked without rest at not growing alfalfa. On long winter evenings he remained indoors and did not mend harness, and he sprang out of bed at the crack of noon every day just to make certain that the chores would not be done. He invested in land wisely and soon was not growing more alfalfa than any other man in the county. Neighbors sought him out for advice on all subjects, for he had made much money and was therefore wise. “As ye sow, so shall ye reap,” he counseled one and all, and everyone said, “Amen.”

They are hoping for a hand out from the govt. They may or may not get one. But all of their principles go right out the window when shit starts affecting them.

    10. FAFO….

I feel for those that fought Trump….

But to those that didn’t bother voting or worse supported him…

      FAFO…

Only 52% of highschool grads voted… guess it wasnt important.

Will ANYONE ever address the elephant in the room? Who did these people vote for? Why won’t someone ask them.If they voted for Trump ask them why.

    12. Farming is a funny profession, for those of you not in the economic space. Many of those folks are highly dependent upon many outside persons (agronomists, accountants, mechanics, loan officers, grain merchants, USDA employees…) to function.

They’re the bottom rung of their production chain and essentially a “price taker” even though they produce the good. For the more commercialized crops like some of you cite, their livelihood is tied to the happenings in every corner of the world, and they can do nothing about it except hope for a disaster elsewhere.

You all are right, though. The subsidies and payouts are excessive and not helpful. They were born of good intentions, but lasted too long and created their own micro-economies that revolve around whatever insurance basis the government will provide.

Some of those folks are probably awful bigots and support the MAGA agenda (and others) will full and open hearts, but I’ll tell you there are a lot of them who have lived in that echo chamber so long that it’s essentially their culture.

I’ll end by saying I’m not advocating for some clemency or forgiveness, but was hoping to just give a small slice of what you may not hear/know about them.

    13. I’d bet most don’t own their farms anyways and rent it. Family farms should have died in the 80s had it not been for bailouts. I get it’s part of the American dream but it’s a fantasy at this point. Corporate farmers knew this was coming and have done some interesting financing to lock in rates and cash to buy distressed farms when the inevitable happens. I expect to see more collateral swaps in the near future.

    14. It’s totally 💯 ironic that they all got exactly what he said he was going to do and cheered like idiots when they did it. I say…..👏🏻 good job electing your idiot.

I have a thought. If someone else has a prayer, we can package them together and send thoughts and prayers to these morons white just getting familiar with the consequences of their actions.
