I was expecting to receive my SUB for my newly opened Citi Double Cash card in the statement that I hit the spend requirement but after speaking with a representative, they stated that because I received another SUB for a different card within a 48 month period, that I was ineligible. I never heard of this or saw this anywhere on the card application page. Is this a new rule? Has anyone run into this? Should I pursue this further? Really irritated…

Citi SUB for new card not being honored because I received a SUB for a previous card?

This has been in place for years. It was absolutely in the terms and conditions that you agreed to when you applied.

Citi is incompetent in the easiest of circumstances. They’re not going to opt to individually break your terms to provide you additional benefit.

    2. “Bonus ThankYou® Points are not available if you have received a new account bonus for a Citi Double Cash account in the past 48 months.”

In the strata elite terms, they clarify this as you can’t get the sub for a card B if you got the sub for card A within the last 48 months and later pc’d card A to Card B

    3. Just signed up for the Citi Dc a month ago and the 48 month view was posted during the application process.

      Sorry that happened.

It’s interesting that Citi would deny a signup bonus and approve a new account without a popup like Amex or Chase Sapphire.

Or without the countoffer thing that C1 does.

I’ve never read of this before.
