I’m in a suburb of the Boston area. We’re planning to put our 2 unit rental property on the market soon. The house was built in 1910. The bathrooms and the kitchens were updated about 10 years ago. The roof is about 10 years old. The furnaces about 15. Overall it’s not terrible for a rental property.
One of the units has some old popcorn ceilings that have sagged and cracked over the years. They’ve been painted over. Nothing is falling down, they’re just a little ugly in a couple of spots.
My husband and I are debating if we should bother fixing them with quarter inch drywall. We got some quotes. The price range was between $7-8k to fix all the ceilings in 1200 sqft.
Is it worth it to fix them?

I would say yes. Buyers will get a bad impression from looking at that ceiling and will see it as something they’re going to have to do. Buyers are very picky right now. This being said, you could try to sell it “as is “ and if a buyer wants you to take care of that or give them a credit, do that.
