So brokers work with different carriers. But even if I go to a few different brokers, there could be overlap (multiple brokers working with the same carriers), but then there could also be some carriers that would be a good fit for me but none of the brokers I contact work with them – so I wouldn't know about these other carriers.

    So, how can I find out all the carriers that cover my area, then find out what brokers work with those carriers so I can cover all my options?

    1. You need to niche down on one risk and find one carrier and place risks with that carrier in that niche, with their said appetite. Start from there and build your book that way chasing carriers does not mean you’re gonna write with them just because you have access.

    2. You ought to be able to get a list of insurance companies from your state’s insurance department.

      Then go one by one to their websites and look for the “find an agent” tab or link.
