I recently realized that though I want to go to college, I could make a career without having to. I have a friend whose dad is big in insurance where I’m from and I’ve tried talking to him about it but he kind of gives me a cold shoulder. No one near me seems to be hiring new people either, so how should I get started?

    How do I get started?

Which state are you in? Usually you have to take courses, I did mine entirely online, then take a state test to get your insurance license.

It’s not an easy profession to start in. Is a hardcore sales job. But you can grow over time.

    2. The way I did it was to get hired by a company that does service for an insurance company, if not the company itself. The company I work for actually had a pre-licensing course that I took, then I went and took my test for my state. Once I had that, they took care of getting me licensed for the other states I’d be working with.

I don’t know if every place has that option, so if you don’t know of a place that does that, look for a Pre-Licensing Course for your state for the type of insurance you want to get into, then complete it and take your test. If you pass, then you can start looking for jobs with it.
