I was making 7 dollars an hour in indiana as a 15 year old. Working at McDonald’s.
I still remember taking orders in the drive through, setting new records for the number of customers we served during the 11 am – 1pm lunch.
I still remember, “$3.17, please pull forward to the first drive through window”
That is 2.99 and 0.18 sales tax for any one of the BigMac Meal, Daily Double, Quarter Pounder w Cheese meal, and the Double Cheeseburger meal.
I was making 7 an hour and they were charging 2.99.
Somehow I don’t think their labor costs are why prices have crept toward 10 dollars for the same meals…in indiana, minimum wage is now 7.25 (it was 5.65 i think back in 1996). I know the employees there today arent making much more than I was.

Fair criticism for sure…Other restaurants should be paying there workers fair wages for the work they do..In some cities they do and I can tell you it pisses off the owners and managers and everyone else but the workers..Wait til you hear about some inventory saying to a server “you wouldnt have a job without me and should be making nothing for how much you get tipped here”. then you hit record on the button and watch the real lawsuit money start coming in after…long story short? f McDonald’s they dont give two shits about workers, only corporate profits..

McDonald’s is just pissed that their meals are now costing as much as sit-down fast casual restaurants, and they want the fast casuals to bear the same labor costs that they are to rebalance the playing field.
