I am experiencing the worst summer I have ever had in business as a business owner of nine years. I am going nearly weeks at a time without clients coming in when I am normally a fully booked hairstylist.
My partner is also experiencing being sent home 2 to 3 days out of the week due to lack of need – He works in the restaurant supply industry and the suppliers are stating that restaurants are needing a pittance of supplies to the comparative norm currently because people are not going out to eat as much.
I am in busy Pinellas county Florida.
My parents and I are butting heads ferociously as they are also in the luxury business. They own a very successful marina which my mother is venting to me that they are so slow currently they don’t know how they’re going to keep their doors open. (this is normally a multimillion dollar company)
However she insists that this is what is necessary to fix the economy and it is just the rough before the golden era trump is “surely “ leading us to.
I am finding it extremely difficult to understand how it is believed that these tariffs and manufacturing jobs supposedly being brought back is going to fix ANYTHING
I am looking for knowledgeable feedback and any sources showing similar moves made in other countries or eras of time that showed either success or failure . TIA
Is the “better “ actually coming ?

Tariffs are a tax.
Even if tariffs bring back manufacturing jobs, that is at the cost of goods and services being more expensive, and people losing the other jobs they were doing.
