Can I get a new car with an active claim?

Okay so like 3 weeks ago I got into a little fender bender. I was slowly backing out AND looking behind me to the right while a car was trying to drive quickly past me. He was coming from the left so I didn’t see him. The damage was minimal but im definitely going to be at fault so thats really annoying but whatever. My insurance company has 1 freaking star and I just finished filing the claim yesterday. My car is old as balls with almost 400,000 miles. This weekend the oil just started pouring out of it, it doesn’t hold any oil whatsoever. And the brakes are bad and grinding. Im ubering to work for the rest of the week and going to see how much it is to fix my car this weekend but honestly im just looking to get a new car and have a car payment but am I able to do that with an active claim? And it’s nearly impossible to get in contact with my insurance company. I tried asking questions yesterday but she said they’ll call me back later (they wont) I just dk what to do bro.
