Trying to understand a disappointing appraisal.
Live in a finished basement home with total sq footage of 2182, but GLA is only 1292 sq ft due to basement requirements?
Am I correct in understanding that even though we have a finished basement, no square footage can be counted towards the appraisal’s GLA? Thank you

Did the appraiser explain why the basement wasn’t included in the GLA? Sometimes local rules are weird. It almost feels like the rules aren’t made up and the points don’t matter. I wonder if some things just aren’t easily measured in square feet.
Basements are never, no matter how finished and how access is, given the same weight as above ground square footage. GLA is above ground.
