I’m a college student and on a full ride scholarship at my university. My housing is free as well so my only expenses are food, hobbies, and gas which I pay for with my job.

I would like to take a trip when I graduate (1 and 1/2 years until then) but I would also like to invest most of this money in the meantime.

I vaguely understand HYSA and Roth IRAs but don’t know where to begin.

    Any tips ?

Received 15k from a settlement, what do I do with it?

I’d set aside whatever I think the trip will cost + $1k buffer in a HYSA so it’s safe and easy to grab when I need it. Anything beyond that I’d lock into a CD or something for the better rate.

    2. RothIRA is so not what you would put your money in if you wanted to spend it traveling. RothIRA is for *retirement.* Get a HYSA online or a CD at your local bank.
