This would seem like the only way for Canada to go. It really would seem to have no choice but to recognize that it will never get a fair hearing from Trump and the Trump Administration on economic, trade or national security issues. The U.S. under Trump simply is no longer an ally of Canada. Trump is acting more like an adversary. Thus, Canada has no choice but to reduce its reliance on the the U.S. market and the U.S. as arms supplier. I hate to say this. I am an American.

    2. Easier said than done. Canada’s infrastructure, including transportation networks is primarily designed to facilitate trade along the North-South corridor with the U.S. This makes it difficult to efficiently shift trade to new, more distant markets in Asia and Europe.

Around two thirds of what they produce and sell to the U.S. are not finished consumer goods; these are intermediate goods, so the parts, ingredients and components used in U.S. manufacturing processes. You can’t do much with Europe and Asia with these intermediate goods.

It will be too painful, Carney will be booted out and Canada will reset.
