Two weeks ago around 4 am local time I got a charge for $1.55 from a “Master Painters, Inc” in Wellington, Florida. I live nowhere near that. I canceled my card and got it replaced. This morning (2 weeks after the first charge) around 4 am I got a charge for $2.13 from the same business on my back statement. Does anyone know why a paint company would have a recurring charge or how they would have received my updated debit card info? I have a temp block on my card now, but they managed to get my new card info so I’m not sure canceling would help.

I do plan to call my bank once they’re open.

    1. Have you looked up the business? Common scams are: charging a very small amount regularly so that hopefully the account holder doesn’t notice; charging a small amount to test if the account is active.

I’d firstly see if there’s a business by these name, breaching small construction business’s commercial account is not that unusual.

    2. Is it a debit card linked to a bank account or a credit card? Because they could have the bank account information instead of the card information

    3. If you have a pre authorized recurring charge changing your card won’t solve it.

Did you tell the bank “hey this is a recurring charge I never authorized”?
