Hi everyone,
I’m in a really urgent situation and could use advice on what to do.
I recently received my financial aid for the semester, but I’m still waiting for my residency status at my university (USF) to be updated to in-state. Once it’s updated, I’ll qualify for in-state tuition, which would free up funds to cover my remaining tuition balance. I’ve ensured the residency office has all the required documentation, but the process is taking longer than expected.
On top of that, there was an unexpected charge of $2,350 applied to my financial aid, leaving me with no extra funds to pay rent. My rent is now overdue, including both my first month and September, and I’m at serious risk of becoming homeless again if I don’t find a solution.
Once this semester ends, my spring semester will have a projected $3,000 refund for the first three months, but that’s not immediate help.
I’ve reached out to my father, who refuses to assist( Thinks I'm an alcoholic and people have been telling him that assisting me doesn't help my condition, I am not an alcoholic) as well as Financial Aid, USF Outreach, and USF Career Services—but no one seems able to give me an immediate solution.
My credit is too poor at 600 for a private loan without a cosigner. Without school, all I can find are low-income jobs where I'm not even able to afford rent just food, had two years of that.
My question:
- Are there emergency loan programs or short-term financial aid options I can apply for to cover living expenses while I look for a job?
I’m desperate for any guidance or resources. Any advice would be hugely appreciated.
Thank you in advance.
