Been watching this stock for a while.
It had a surge yesterday and is now sitting at $310, still down from its ath of $545. This upward movement came from 2 analysts increasing their price target to $400.
It had a similar spike back on August 18th when it increased to $370, which was then followed by a large sell off down to $270. Same reason, an analyst made an upgrade.
Being that its still in a bearish trend, I view this spike in share price as a good time to buy puts, curious what yall think?
I think it will continue down the rest of this month, but may rally leading up to earnings.

What has been the historical PE of this?
Didn’t apple just announce the air pods are essentially going to be able to be used as babel fish?
Learning languages isn’t practical and a babel fish allows a person to speak any language they wish without language barrier, where as having to learn another language is a huge barrier.
It’s kinda like a one trick pony. What happened to Rosetta Stone?
I’m going long. Stock plummeted on the Google news/demo of auto-translations, but imo this doesn’t replace Duolingo, this is also (currently) reflected in users, which are still growing.
Duolingo is also holding a conference, I think next week, where they will demo features like video calling and chess. I wouldn’t write them off.
the analysts are pieces of shit
I mean they’ve been beating their earnings. It’s just the market is afraid of what will happen as Google and OpenAI start to go after them.
People think translation stuff will kill duo. Bro the whole point of learning a language is because you want to immerse yourself in their culture. It’s two different things. Not to mention translations aren’t always accurate. There’s stuff you can miss in subtle context like jokes or slang.
Also they’re expanding into other verticals and on their earnings call. They said chess was growing pretty fast. If they can expand into other areas and become the super app of education.
People are like anyone can create Duolingo. Yea anyone can create idk clash of clans too. But their game is still alive 10 years later.
Why has no game replaced clash of clans over 10 years later? Anyone can make that game right? I really don’t understand that argument imo. I think it’s dumb.
Because of network effects and branding. That’s why clash of clans and other gacha games don’t die.
People really think gacha games just die which Duolingo basically is that.
Yes they can die but good gacha games are very hard to kill off. They’re very sticky. People still make memes and jokes about clash of clans almost 13 years later….
I’m biased because I own duo but imo duo is here to stay.
