Perhaps Donald Trump should just STFU and keep his nose out of private enterprise. He’s fucking everything else up and he certainly didn’t run his business as successfully.
Why the fuck would businesses take any kind of advice from a man who is clearly incapable of any kind of rational thought?

Wait a minute folks. I don’t think it’s the worst idea trump’s ever had. This would make management focus a little bit longer term. Wouldn’t that be better for a corporation longer term health?

Why not change it to yearly… Oh wait yeah I know what will happen. Companies report, their earnings suck and the stock drops 70% until the next report. That’s a massive improvement dumbass…

The idea of 6 month reporting is stupid, but he’s not wrong on the last sentence… we run companies for short term gain in the US because so much of stock pricing is based on short term and less on sustainability.

I dislike 99% of what this guy says but this one I agree with although I’m not sure it actually solves the underlying problem.
Anyone who has worked at a Fortune 500 company knows the company puts a ton of money time and resources into the quarterly reports themselves, and also drives so many decisions to be able to make positive statements by the time of the next report. Increasing that time would reduce those costs and allow a very slightly longer range view. Being publicly traded makes it hard to avoid the real issue though which is that short term profits are the only thing that matter because if you build a strong case for why you’re slowly building to 10 years from now, you might get a crazy PE like tech stocks or investors might all just run away to a company they think will have more meaningful gains now

He’s not wrong though. The United States does have a short term view on returning shareholder value. Management is constantly worrying about next quarters numbers.
The thing to worry about is bad actors and the lack of transparency.
