I’m set to PCS in Dec but was looking into starting a dity move early-mid Oct. I have no idea where to start or what to do. Aside from the obvious, packing all my stuff into boxes.
Does anyone have tips on how to go about this and get it started? Thanks !

Why are you trying to go early? Have you attended your PCS outprocessing brief yet? It tells you what you need/can do, and going that early likely isn’t approved.
You need to log onto the DPS website and start a claim. It starts out as a HHG move and then you eventually click something that says you’re doing it yourself. Once you submit that online you’ll get assigned a counselor and they will email you all the documentation you would ever need.
If you’re not able to navigate DPS then go to your local personal property office and they’ll sit with you and do it. But once you fill it out online your online counselor gives you all the required information and highlights everything you need to sign and fill out. This is how you get the info on weight tickets and stuff and how to tune in the completed package. I just got done doing a DITY move with the navy so if you have anymore questions let me know.
