People always say this about new technology and it rarely manifests people had the same worries about trains and factories 200 years ago

The only jobs that will be erased by AI are the jobs held by marketers trying to convince us that AI is a replacement for humans. The entire notion of using AI and artificial robots used prop up an economy rather than paying people a living wage … this will go down in history as one of the dumbest things humans have ever tried to do.

You can’t sell products to AI. Therefore you need to ensure people have money to buy products. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out what will happen when you have a few thousand rich people and millions who can’t eat.

I´ll wait for the AI plumber then, and the AI carpenter and the AI farmer and AI electician

    5. Politicians are glossing over these reports. But mass unemployment would become a huge political issue. If we had 10%+ unemployment, people would be in the streets, setting waymo cars on fire, attacking robots in factories. Any political party wouldn’t get re-elected, and new politicians would be forced to adopt anti-AI policies. Hopefully none of that happens, but anything is possible.

    6. Don’t worry, lowering interest rates will definitely cover this hole. It’s not like workers need to be remunerated fairly vs the top 10%.

    7. The job market will be fine. These things were said during the Industrial Revolution, the emergence of the internet etc. Jobs will disappear but new ones (including ones we can’t even imagine) will emerge.

    8. Well, fortunately nobody needs to actually work in the richest country of the world. Right?

Consumers will have to become accustomed to and accept a lot less in terms of quality, and they’re going to be asked to do this for the same or higher prices.

    10. Robots by 2030 will start to take labor as well. By 2040 there will be no jobs that humans need to do as a percentage (less than 1%) of work. Nobody knows how this will go. This has never happened in history.

    11. Every job that’s mostly a computer can be replaced by AI likely. Of course this would need so much energy and water for cooling we’d have to be Matrix-d into batteries

    12. this morning, I probably bypassed a production crew of 12 before I took my head off my pillow

    13. It’s a great thing birth rates are lower

Means less competition for the few jobs avaliable

Please tell me how this would somehow increase economic growth? Once you hit a certain point of job losses and little to no job growth you go into stagnation / recession. You have deflation. So I’m not sure why AI and doing more with less so people can be fired is a good thing.

    15. They’ll replace housing for data centers. Take all the water. Use all the electricity. Thete will be no one left to consume their crap.
