Does anybody own stocks of companies with products that you also swear by? Most of the evaluations I see are based on a variety of different criteria, and having a product that you actually love seems to be pretty far down the list. The best performing stock that I own, I got into because of a convincing testimonial from someone using their product and swearing that it was much better than all the competition. I'm interested to hear from others if they have similar stocks like this.

I´m reading this in the chrome browser with youtube in the background and my android phone beside me.

    2. I don’t own one(planning on replacing my daily next year) but I own Rivian stock purely because I like them, like the product, like the products on the horizon, and genuinely want them to do well even if the numbers and the climate don’t make them particularly appealing to others.

    3. I’m really bad for this.

I drive an EV but own oil stocks.

I have no jewelry but own gold.

I’m Canadian but own US treasuries.

And none of the meds I take are from Pfizer, but I own pfizer.

First book i read on the stock market “one up on wall street” taught me – among many other things – to look out for new products that disrupt or revolutionize an industry. One tell you found one of these products is when many people, including yourself, switch from one product to another and start swearing by that product.

On another note, Warren Buffett himself in the past has often talked about only investing in products he understands. As a user you tend to get a basic understanding of the product you’re using.

Personally i like to follow this advice and its paid off pretty well in the few years i’ve been in the markets. Dont get cocky though and think just because you and your peers like the product, that the corresponding stock is a good stock to own. A lot more research into a company is needed for me to want to own shares in a company, besides a good product.

Also be wary of IPOs, as i’ve recently learned about enshittification first hand with Duolingo. Been using and loving the app for years, but now that they’re public, using the free version of the app has become a pain in the ass. This makes me think new user growth is going to slow down significantly.
