Majorie Taylor Greene: “Prices have not come down at all. The job market is extremely difficult. Wages have not gone up. Health insurance is going up. Home insurance goes up. Rent is going up. Young people have no hope of buying a home.”

Wow a Republican acknowledging economic problems without blaming the immigrants or the FED?? I wonder what root cause she pointed to in the podcast.

Because at this point, MAGA has completely consumed the GOP, and every Republican is parroting the same talking points. The only real currency left is attention. So when MTG says something that goes against the grain, she gets engagement from both sides — outrage from the left and curiosity (or backlash) from the right.

She doesn’t have any real allegiance to ideology or principle — just to staying relevant. And honestly, she’s figured out how to do it in a landscape where QAnon and Groypers have become so mainstream that the chaos she used to represent now feels almost… bland.

yes, these are all issues. i’m so curious to hear about her policy/voting record, because it seems to me that selling our society to the rich is probably not the best strategy.

    4. For anyone looking into reasons for her shift. It is all to do with MAGA and Trump ditching her as soon as they got into power. Now she wants to hurt them, either for her own ambitions or to force them to bring her back into the fold.

    5. Greene is seeing the writing on the wall for future elections and is (smartly) shifting her positions to get ahead of the next election cycles.

    6. I never expected MTG to be the one to take this approach. Its kind of fascinating to see her be among the first to realise and pivot that Trumps populism wont last forever

    7. What is happening right now.

We’ve had ups we’ve had downs, but this is one turn, I did not think the roller coaster was gonna make.

    8. She’s an opportunist who knows which way the wind is blowing. It’s nice that she’s saying the right things about the economic reality for most people, but she’s still absolutely batshit on most other issues. Don’t trust her.

Good to see an indication that Republicans aren’t quite the monolith it looked like they were. I’m glad fractures are starting to show because we can’t take much more of this.
