I am planning to buy a property a few hours away. I met with a real estate agent who is himself a landlord to a few properties in the area. He advised that I use a lawyer that is local in the area for closing.

Is that a true/reliable thing to do? I do have a real estate lawyer locally, but the agent said the lawyer I use needs to be aware of the local town and county laws. So I wanted to ask here if anyone had any advice on which lawyer to use?

    Which lawyer?

    1. I would bet if you ask the attorney in your area, they would suggest using an attorney in that other area. If your attorney is good, they’ll even know an attorney in the other location you can use

How far away is this other area? I think this is good advice. It won’t always make much difference but it could and better safe than sorry.

So I would use the local guy (or some local guy) though it may not always matter to much.

If that agent uses him I’m sure he’s good. Check his reviews. Easy enough.
