(im only 24 and this is my first claim ever- plz dont be mean😂)
i have renters insurance from Geico.
Coverage details: deductible-$500
Personal Prop Coverage: 15k
loss of use coverage: 3k
personal liability coverage: 100k
medical payments: 1k
damage to others: $500
replacement costs(?): included
Long story kinda short- i rent a 3 bed apartment in a complex, my apartment has been very mold ridden since May. They refused to help until I threatened a lawyer, i still got a lawyer anyways and we’re currently mediating. All of my clothes and everything fabric in my master bedroom were the most contaminated with visible mold covering entire items. As well as my sofa in my living room under my peeling ceiling thats fallen on it. I keep all receipts of my clothes, furniture, etc and ive taken pictures of all damaged items and i kept them just in case an adjuster had to come out.
My senior cat has also been to the vet multiple times due to behavioral issues and my vet said that they can relate the issues to the mold in her environment. Ive been to the er and urgent care regarding severe allergies and asthma issues. As well as, i have documents from several allergists stating my severity of mold allergies.
I decided to file a claim for personal property damage rather than demand over 10k in damages to the landlord because we’re already demanding a lot from them for many other things. I will have to buy all new furniture (sofa, bed frame, mattresses), many clothes, etc.
I am looking for any tips or advice on how to receive the max personal property reimbursement from my claim. as well as, anything to help my claim be absolutely approved. I havent started my claim yet because I needed some guidance first.
