Hi all,

I’m dealing with a complicated car accident claim and am hoping for guidance on how to proceed.

The accident happened on July 3, 2025, involving three vehicles. My car was hit on the driver side by a 2020 Lexus, which was pushed into me after being struck by a hit-and-run driver in a 2018 Lexus. The driver of the 2020 Lexus claims her car was hit on the driver side by the hit-and-run driver but cannot provide any physical evidence of that collision.

I have a CHP report filed, photos of my damage, and repair estimates. Both insurance companies (including the hit-and-run driver’s insurer) have denied my claims and closed investigations. I only have liability insurance and am financially exposed.

The biggest problem is that the insurer for the hit-and-run driver refuses to provide the driver’s mailing address. I know privacy laws like the Drivers Privacy Protection Act (DPPA) restrict access to such information except through court orders or law enforcement.

I filed the accident report myself with the CHP four days after the crash because they didn’t come to the scene when I called. I’m wondering if anyone knows how I can obtain the mailing address of the hit-and-run driver through CHP or other legal means after filing such a delayed report?

Has anyone faced a similar denial with no driver contact info? How did you handle it? Tips on legal options or dealing with insurance companies would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!
