Many businesses can be started as a DBA filling out some documents from the State government website and use that to open bank accounts, etc. Other businesses you would want to start immediately with a corporate shield. That can be done on your own. I would suggest using an agent to handle those documents because their fees are generally minimal (pretty standard service) and if you were to make a mistake, saves you alot of time. Search around to find a good agent to help you form your company if you do not think a DBA will work.
