Hi there! I work for a small business that wants me to use my personal golf cart to transport clients. They don't carry any insurance and say that I should 'be fine' as long as I have personal golf accident.

This makes me incredibly anxious. If someone gets hurt, doesn't this make me liable? Or is it even allowed to do business activities with personal insurance? TIA!

    Golf cart insurance?

      Don’t do it.

It’s intimidating to say no to your employer but this is inviting a lot of brain damage into your life.

Ask your employer to get something in writing from their business insurance agent saying g that you would be covered by their GL or by their business auto policy.

Don’t take insurance or risk management advice from your employer.

    2. You should be anxious. Do not do it. You are almost certainly not properly insured for risks associated with this and the people you’re working for don’t know or don’t care. Call a local broker and discuss the situation with them before considering anything on this. My guess is they’ll tell you to steer clear of this – maybe there’s some sort of endorsement you can add to you personal policy that would extend coverage, but you shouldn’t have to bear the costs of that.

And you should probably consider finding another job if the company you work for doesn’t have “any insurance” – it’s a sign of a company on the rocks or a company led by people who have no understanding of risk and basic legal matters.

Your company should be insuring you for anything you are doing in the course of your work. Full stop.

Plus, a company that is already operating without insurance is going to screw you over any which way they can. They obviously aren’t operating ethically.
