I work in finance so I'm in office 5 days a week from 9-6/7, it's cold, it's dark and all I want to is crash and sleep with any free time I have. How do you motivate/discipline yourself to follow your ambitions when you have no energy but need the income from your job?
How did you find time to start your business whilst doing other things?

I know the struggle ! I recently quit my job to focus on my business. I’ll tell you this, it’s not for everyone. I did however used to be able to get time in the evenings, so I’d work on my hustle for like 2-3 hours after the work day. And then one of Saturday or Sunday went into it as well.
You’ll need to optimize time and fix time for meals and workout, these are super essential for your mental and physical health. The more control you have, the better you can manage your time. Hope this helped!
Do 1 thing at the interval that works for you.
Maybe it’s 1 think per weekend or per month. It depends on how fast you want to grow.
Time isn’t a bad thing, you gain experience and slowly spread the word. Opportunities arise that you may not be able to take advantage of if you’re always running full blast.
Sometime la your best opportunity will be a chance meeting in line at a subway. (Literally what happened to a friend of mine.)
I get that completely man it’s hard to build something when your day job already drains most of your energy
What helped me was not trying to do everything at once I picked one small thing each week that actually moved my idea forward even if it was just 30 minutes after work or on a weekend It’s slow but consistent progress beats burnout every time. Also try to set up your environment so it’s easier to work when you get home Maybe a short walk or shower first to reset your brain before switching to your own stuff That small mental break makes a big difference. You won’t always feel motivated but discipline comes from building small habits that fit your schedule The goal isn’t to grind nonstop it’s just to keep momentum even on low energy days🪖🤞
You do whatever it takes. Sounds like you have 6/7pm to 9am on weekdays and all day on weekends. You just don’t want it bad enough yet. And there’s nothing wrong with that. When you do, you’ll figure it out and won’t have to ask others how.
Find something you are passionate about and you’ll immediately have more energy.
When something is important and we are passionate about it, we always find a way!
I’ll be honest. The motivation has to be manufactured by you. It’s hard but you have to be your own cheerleader.
Listen to audible, podcasts and YouTube content from entrepreneurs to keep you going.
There may be some days you wake up early to work before your job and some days you get off your job, sleep and wake up to work. You’ll sacrifice sleep for a while, learn to eat the same thing almost everyday and plan similar outfits to minimize wasting time making decisions. Also using commute time and leisure time so learn at least one thing about the business.
Weekends are still work days for the most part. Find time to unwind and meet with friends, but keep a work schedule you can mange. It’s pretty brutal for a while but then when your side hustle starts picking up traction and you have a schedule down, then it’s easier to scale and decide when/if you need to leave your 9-5.
Ps: Ask alot of questions to business owners you know.
You could very well do all of this and realize that you don’t want to be an Entrepreneur and stay at your job. You could also find another business idea in the middle of doing research and pivot.
Good luck to you!
I have no idea.
Thanks for sharing!
You have some spare hours, you have to force yourself to start earlier in stages. Set your alarms and get up early, gain an hour or two in the morning before your day job. It’s not easy and may take years, you have to push through some tough times if you want to succeed. Good luck, it can get better.
I started by cutting my goals in half – smaller daily tasks made progress feel doable after work.
