I got into an at fault car accident in the beginning of January 2025, it caused my air bag to go off and I hit some sort of utility vehicle and it looked like very minimal damage on the vehicle itself. The driver on the other hand had a metal coffee cup in his hand and when I hit him it resulted in a small cut under his eye from the coffee cup but over all he seemed fine. I hurt my thumb but wasn’t broken I didn’t get taken in an ambulance and neither did he. 5 months after the accident he filed a claim for medical expenses and now I’m receiving letters saying that my policy may not cover all the damages. I fully own my vehicle so I did not have full coverage insurance, my insurance company did not pay for any damages on my car or anything regarding myself. I’m very anxious about what can happen it seems they are looking for additional payments but I’m not sure for what. Any advice or guidance is very much appreciated

You are correct, they may look for additional monies from you.
It sounds like you have a minimum limit policy(or close).
Step #1. Call and get higher limits so you don’t screw yourself over in the future.
Step #2. Hope that they are able to settle the claim within your limits.
Otherwise, there isn’t much to do. You chose those limits, they were the limits at the time of the accident, you cannot change that now.
