Hey guys, I created a simple but useful app. (I think it’s useful because everyone I’ve ever told about it thinks it’s a great idea). I’d say the app is currently in the MVP phase, and I’m trying to do some market testing. Basically I just need to get a restaurant or two to agree to let me put a QR code to my app somewhere at their restaurant. This will help me test if people are actually finding it useful/helpful.

The issue is, every time ask people at the restaurant they say to email the manager or owner and give me a business card, I follow through with an email but never hear back.

Just need advice on how to go about this better, especially if you’ve gone through this kind of phase for your business before. Any advice is appreciated. Thank you

    1. local outreach can be very difficult to implement in practice.
One thing that worked for me was to say, “can I put my QR code in your restaurant,” instead of saying, “I’ve got something that could benefit you.” One example would be, “I am working on an application that has the potential to increase engagement or assist customers with X. Would you allow me to test it for free for a week and then share the findings with you?”
It is far easier to get a “yes” by presenting it as a win for them plus the guarantee of returning with data.

Try dropping by during slow hours so you can talk briefly in person with the manager. A quick demo or even just showing genuine curiosity about their workflow can help break the ice. Also if you want to identify restaurant owners who are already talking about apps or new tech online, ParseStream can alert you when relevant discussions pop up so your outreach is warmer.
