I don’t have a green thrums and am disabled so doing traditional gardening seems a bit ambitious for me. I’ve seen a lot of the lettuce grow stands for resale on Facebook marketplace and I’ve been thinking about investing in one. Produce is getting so expensive and it seems like many people get significant amounts from theirs.

I’m wondering if it actually saves money? I see a lot of people raving about it online, but nobody has been super clear if between the device, starter sprouts, and time till harvest – if it makes produce more affordable.

If you have a Lettuce Grow or one of the other vertical farm stands, I’d love to hear your experience.

Hydroponic Vertical Farming…does it actually save you money?

    1. Lettuce is really easy to grow in containers outside in the spring or in the fall. It just likes cool weather. I usually plant in a container early spring all my lettuce seeds and in a month or so you’ve got a bunch that will keep going till the summer heat hits.

The grow stands indoors work. I use to have a coworker who kept on on their desk. It’s definitely more expensive than just a cheap pot with dirt in it that you put in a window. You’ll get basically one plant per pod. So think about what a head of romaine lettuce costs in the store compared to the pods that they sell.

Versus if you plant in a container you’ll be able to put multiple types of lettuce together in the same pot.

(I’m suggesting containers since you can put them up on a bench or table outside so they are raised to access than in the ground)
