Renewables overtake coal as world’s biggest source of electricity | BBC News
Renewable energy overtook coal as the world’s leading source of electricity in the first half of this year – a historic first, according to new data from the global energy think tank Ember.
Electricity demand has grown around the world but the growth in solar and wind was so strong it met 100% of the extra electricity demand.
However, Ember said the headlines mask a mixed global picture.
Developing countries, especially China, led the clean energy charge but richer nations including the US and EU relied more than before on planet-warming fossil fuels for electricity generation.

"Drill, baby, drill!"
but what about nice clean coal?!
But at what cost?
Let's keep escalating renewably powered electricity, high insulation, high efficiency, thermal mass heat storage and electric transportation!
BBC竟然正面报道中国了,太不容易了😂

如果你关注中国的新闻,你会发现,中国的核聚变项目也取得了进展。预计在10年内实现初步商用。一旦成功,发电量将达到恐怖的数字
War, The only thing China doesn't make
Most of it done by china, changes by others is negligible
EU, we are going green.
US, ok, I am blowing the gas pipe for ya.
EU: buying Russian gas from India India instead.
US: no, you need to buy LNG from us.
EU: ok.
EU and US: China is over producing and dumping solar and wind generators!
how dare China
and energy in the UK highest in the developed world
this is just another big fat BBC LIE. renewables and a joke
Without the Overcapacity of renewable energy equipment in China, this could Never be achieved, given the political climite in the US and the buraucracy in the EU.

This video is gold.
China always knew coal was a problem but came up with a long term plan, despite the naysayers, to introduce solar and wind generated power. Even before watching the video I knew China's coal use reduction would be the reason.
Bulshit broadcast company
Nationalize green energy.
Don't let it be privatized and owned by useless greedy billionaires/shareholders.
Fossil fuel corporations/billionaires lost the 'Climate change denial propaganda'
and they're going to lose the battle for energy period.
Chevron also needs to be sanctioned for its role invasion of Venezuela's oil.
Makes sense, since fossil fuels are close to scarce.
Won't bring your bills down tho'
