Not only are these BS reasons, they just don’t rise to any comparison with pre-K services.

“But Councilmember Jim Harrity, who has led the charge to reexamine the beverage tax, and some of his colleagues say the beverage tax does more harm to the city than good, because it adds strain to grocery stores that provide employment and food in the city. They also say it imposes costs on low-income families by increasing their grocery bills.”

So, it’s a hardship to drink less soda? I think these guys don’t understand – and so they’re almost certainly Rs, just trying to get more money for corporations. I wonder how much the soft drink makers “donated” to him?

    2. The word specious comes to mind, that is an argument that sounds good but is full of holes. I’ll just mention one — soda is not a grocery. Soda does more bad than good. Soda leads to tooth decay and obesity. I don’t mind if someone wants to buy a soda, but don’t try to tell me that it is a good thing that they are doing, other than that they are contributing to Pre-K education.

    3. Big Soda “I mean, why hurt our profits and shareholders to help the young people or families? It’s not like their the future or anything, right?”
