I did a bit of a spending exercise this month.

I’m 31 and hit a very lean FI this year with 750k ish invested and about 2k/mo spend. But I like my job. Decided to spend more and narrowed this to ‘try dating’ and ‘spend more on experiences.’

moved back to a major city. 950 rent -> 2200 rent. started dating. met someone for about a month now. cumulatively spent about 1500 on various dates (food, activities and then recently at home date night takeout/nice meals). bought a new pc. bought new girl a switch2. bought a bunch of for fun stuff for intimacy (never dated before). I think this month i spent 5x on ‘doing stuff’ more than i ever have.

Even with all of this though i STILL didnt spend what i made from my w2 job. Spent maybe 6.5-7k? and i make 130k base / 180k ish total. and that’s NOT considering nw growth from investments. aiming for closer to 4k spend now. so fi number mid 1m.

Anyway, just want to share. I feel like the ‘chronically frugal to a fault’ people do get some visibility here and I’ve definitely improved a lot. Been about 8 months since I decided i wanted to do
something other than just work, game and lift. Went on maybe 6 different unique tinder meetups, two relationships, current girl…. idk prob gunna keep her around. She’s also a gamer, gymrat, nurse… has like 25k in debt but makes like 70-90k a year, we’re legit aligned on everything but finances but she’s a good listener xd
