I got an extension for my taxes and scheduled a payment with an account that didn’t go through prior to the government shutdown. I changed payment method and scheduled it for the next day (which unfortunately was when the government claimed it’s shut down). Now I’m being charged for late fees when I have submitted payments. Is this because they can’t be processed? Am I going to be charged more whilst this shutdown continues even though I did pay before my extended deadline?

If anyone knows any advice please comment what I should do…

How to pay taxes after an extension during government shutdown?

    1. Unless you are in a disaster area the extension is an extension of time to file not to pay. Payment was due April 15th so you’ll pay penalties/interest for anything paid after that date.
