I’ve been exploring solo entrepreneurship this year and started working on an idea called Contrika.

It’s still early, but building it made me realize how many different directions solo founders are taking right now.

I’m curious what others are working on in 2025.
What kind of solo projects or businesses are you building, and what made you choose your niche?

Let’s share what’s working, what’s not, and what’s been most surprising so far.

What solo businesses are people building in 2025?

It sounds like you’re at an exciting stage with Contrika and already thinking deeply about your direction. I recently joined a Discord community for entrepreneurs and small business owners where members share their projects, discuss challenges, and exchange actionable advice. It’s a space where people post their current ideas, ask questions, and get feedback from others at a similar stage, which can be really valuable when navigating the uncertainties of early entrepreneurship.

If you’re interested, I can send an invite so you can see whether it might be helpful for your project and connect with others who are exploring similar solo ventures.

    2. I just lost my job working in a spinal clinic.
      Burnt ALL the way out
Thankfully I have cabinet making to fall back on, and my wife is a designer.
I need to quickly invest about $3000 in upgrading my shop, and getting it stood back up. Once I do, I’m self employed again. I’m getting too old for this shit. This will be the third , and last, time I’ve built cabinets solo. Once more into the breech!!!

I’m trying to build an Operations Agency. It’s helping business either fix or create working and effective systems for their business.

I want it to not be a solo business of course, until such time that there’s capital to hire people, everything is solo ride.

    4. Solo.
Design reviews. Its pretty much a service you sell your own experience.

Its working when I get visibility.

Mostly solo. Better than your average websites with faster delivery and cost-effective way.

I know I know. If I say it costs 4 figures Reddit says its insane. However reality is.
Custom-designed and strategically built websites are more effective. It takes knowledge and time to do those.

Been working in this niche for 20y. I just felt interested. It has brought income. And its something I really like to do. Like every new project, either for a large well-known brand or a company just starting. Its just something I feel I want to start and work over and over.

Why solo. Because. I feel I can be responsible for the quality. Like deliver faster, better. When one person communicates with client its effective. Everything I don´t like. Office politics. Long waiting times after people. Its gone 🙂

I am building my business of exporting plywood and maybe building materials since 2021. Why I chose it, my family used to be in the manufacturing plywood business but not anymore now.
With the connection my father left me, based on that foundation and started a trading company.
Good things is that the business still running till this day, didn’t expect this at all.
Bad thing is feeling like I could have become a salaryman and make similar without the hassle.
