I my whole life was struggling with discipline and couldn't get things done because I wasn't commited enough. For example, I, a while ago, wanted to make money doing e-commerce but was never fully commited because I thought that if it's not working in a week it's not worth it. So while laying in bed the other day I though of an app idea and I don't know if it's worth creating. The main thing that the app does is you commit some money like 20$ or 50$(the more you give, the more you will feel obligated), then you give a goal for yourself. You must work for that goal everyday and upload screenshots with the date so it's not the same photo. If you miss a day a portion of your money invested goes to the developer of the app. In my mind the app solves that itch where you give up when you feel discomfort or don't understand anything. What do you guys think?
Is this an app worth developing?

Majority won’t be ready to pay.
Why not do it as an accountability buddy thing? If you miss a day your buddy gets the funds. You take a cut. Might make more people join if they thought they could get paid.
I admit that the concept of an accountability buddy who benefits from you falling off the wagon is a bit cynical…but no more cynical than a developer who benefits from his users not achieving their goals.
I don’t think you can make this in a week either. Have you considered just putting actual effort into a normal idea?
There is a lot going on here. But, I’ll only address the perceived problem. Who is the target audience? This feels like a reverse gacha system. Where instead of rewards for commitment and getting the dopamine hit we are punishing people for straying and working of fear and discomfort. In essence you are asking people the let you take their money hostage. There is already only a very small amount of people that will be willing to do this. Then, if the people that try it fail at their goal and lose their money, well they won’t come back. It’s a very very small niche
Sounds like a gym membership. You go and get rewarded and you don’t go and the gym gets your money.
Personally, I don’t think it would be worth developing as people won’t want to part with their money. Now maybe the app can give out stickers or streaks. Think of how many people get upset when they lose their duolingo streak. Not sure how to monetize a system like that but maybe just have ads on it.
