As we know major advertisement before the TV was done via radio and before that mail and before that I'm unsure probably word of mouth. Now with social media being the new channels, everyday people are competing head to head with the largest of networks which gives entrepreneurs an advantage never seen before due to the very low barrier of entry and huge potential reward. Im sure the many have created brands for the business, but as the CEO how many of you have created a personal brand? Why or why not?
How seriously do you take building a personal brand for your business?

I think a personal brand shows who you represent yourself as, but as an entity. I have my personal brand as an LLC but I have projects under the LLC and if you want a different name than the LLC but want the same benefits you can just file a DBA.

Personal Brand.
I have not, but I have a feeling I am going to have to just to move my company forward quickly. I am starting to see a big shift in marketing agency’s where the owner has a good personal brand.
mm ab… well, personal brand is like your digital smell people remember it even after they scroll past. You can build a biz without it, sure… but with one, it’s like adding a face to the logo, gives it heartbeat, trust, vibes.
I’ve seen folks rank faster just cause they felt more human online. So yeah, I take it seriously but not LinkedIn-guru-serious… more like “tell your story, meme a bit, drop some real talk, let Google and humans both vibe” serious.
What about you lot you building a brand or just hiding behind a logo with anxiety and analytics? 😂
I’m probably the exception around here so I’ll give my side of things. Don’t have a personal brand, and I try to minimize any advertisement for my business. Most things are done in person, I don’t run ads, and have the bare minimum presence possible. So I still run off of word of mouth.
And I did this for two reasons, one is that I don’t need the vast majority of people to know who I am or what my business is, so it makes economic sense. The other reason is that I just value my privacy. I’ll do my job, make my money and run things, and the world will go on without ever knowing I even existed.
Most of my socials for the business are via my personal accounts on LinkedIn, twitter before, and facebook a bit, so yeah have had to build up a personal brand arguably more so than the business brand. Important for me.
I mean who you are as a person will dictate if someone is willing to work with/for you honestly. If your personal brand is built on trust and leadership you’ll likely get the right crowd of people around you imo
It’s important. I lead my business with a personal brand and speak on that topic at summits, etc.
I separate my personal brand from my business, most of it aligns but long term I don’t want the success of the business to be propped up by my personal brand, ie if I left, sold it, retired or other, I wouldn’t want to see the business degrade if I wasn’t there.
On the flip side if I decide to specialise in something different or do another side business, I don’t want to be locked into one type of business based on the business I built or if the business direction shifts to a product base that I rely on the skills of others to deliver.
I hope this makes sense. Either way I take branding on both me and my business seriously.
