Does anyone have recommendations for lawyers who specialize in federal wage garnishment? I never received any letters or calls from the original agency giving me a chance to pay off my debt before it was transferred to the Department of the Treasury. Now, my wages are being garnished, and the IRS is also taking my tax refund. I have no way to contact them to resolve or pay off the debt. Any advice or referrals would be greatly appreciated.
How do I dispute a federal debt

You didn’t receive a letter from the IRS about the refund being taken?
Is this a federal tax debt, or is it a state tax agency debt?
The federal offset program is not going to accept any change requests from you or a lawyer, you need to go back to the originating agency and have them send in updated information on the debt.
I mean, sure you can hire a lawyer, but you would still have a debt and just added a legal bill. You can tweak your withholding so that you do not have a tax refund for the IRS to grab.
Then you can reach out to the garnishment agency to make a payment plan.
