I just reviewed my monthly expenses and realized I’m paying for far more subscriptions than I actually use. It's surprising how quickly those small recurring costs add up! It made me wonder: out of all your active subscriptions, how many do you genuinely use every month? This is a wake-up call, so many people now pay for about 4 to 6 subscriptions but only use a handful, making budget leaks almost invisible until you finally check. Time to audit and save!

How many subscriptions do you actually use?

I cancelled everything and went all-in on my local library, which turned out to be incredibly stacked with movies and Switch games. I wish they had more TV series, but I’ll take what I can get

    2. I typically cancel streaming subscriptions as soon as I’m done watching a show so that I’m only paying for the show that I’m currently watching

Only Walmart+ which has hardly been used recently. We cancelled auto-renew at the start of the year.

We use free streaming services like Tubi, and Kanopy.

    4. The only subscription I have, and have for over a decade is Spotify Premium. I love ad free, being able to download podcasts and Playlist. As well as the recently added audio books. It’s like $15/mnth. Worth it for me!

    5. I pay for my father’s britbox subscription as a Christmas present (which I also use a lot, they don’t limit sharing). We have an Amazon prime subscription that I think we’ll be cancelling soon. We’ve cancelled everything else, but will pick one up for a month or two here and there

    6. None. I don’t like having to pay monthly for things that aren’t required bills. I used to pay for a wow subscription, but instead I earn enough gold in game to pay for my husband and my account, including new expansions. For media stuff, I prefer to actually own physical copies of shows and movies I like.

    7. Spotify is the shit. I use it the most out of all my subscriptions. I didn’t think I would like it as much as I do.

    8. shudder, Costco, and a sleep tracking app to show my doctor.

no others, i had a few more but cancelled them

iCloud storage (9.99 for family plan) and SimpliSafe security alarm which is a lot like $32 but it gives my husband peace of mind. Then we mooch a YouTube tv sub from my brother (thankful it still works to do that). They don’t have ABC anymore so we do the bunny ear antenna to get a lot of the UGA games now. I’ll probably subscribe back to Hulu if they run a good Black Friday promotion. It was $2.99 a month last year for Hulu and Disney plus. I can create a new account using my work phone number.

    10. i share certain things with my parents and friends so it isnt too bad. i also am self employed so some of my subscriptions are necessary business expenses (and tax write offs)

      – google storage: business expense, pay annually so its cheaper
      – adobe: business expense
      – stock image site: business expense, pay annually so its cheaper
      – amazon prime: business expense (includes prime video / price split with parents)

      – spotify with hulu bundle ($16 a month – got the deal in college and share hulu with parents)
      – peacock (on a $2/mo deal that is split with parents)
      – hbo max (friend pays for and shares login)
      – netflix (parents pay for)

    11. One for TV streaming. One for music streaming. The lack of ads is worth the cost. I basically never have to see or hear commercials anymore.

    12. I have 2 subscriptions and paying youtube membership for 4-5 of my friends channel. My subscriptions are for my dying channel so I still wonder if I keep them or not in case I’ll continue in the future. One is for the images (I use it for other things) and one for the music (I don’t really use it).

One. When I will have watched all I wanted to watch, I will cancel it and I will see if I get another one or not.

    14. I watch a lot of things. It’s kind of how I get through my days (when I’m not reading) so most of my subscriptions are just streaming apps. I wouldn’t say I make full use of all of them but I try moving from one to another and watch from all of them from time to time. Or I pause/cancel for a bit when I’m not watching anything from a particular app for a while.

    15. My monthly recurring payments:

      1. Gym
      2. Music app (for downloading and listening without using wifi)
      3. Skincare prescription

    16. We recently canceled everything. I plan to cancel Amazon once my renewal comes up. It had just become very expensive over time. I may sign up for something to watch something specific and then cancel when done in the future.

Well, I did keep one sports app for basketball and probably will renew each season.

    17. I have Amazon Prime which I hate having but I do use it a lot and Instacart which gives me free Peacock TV
Oh and I pay $5 a month for PBS
I cancelled all my newspaper subscriptions because I couldn’t bear hearing the news anymore.

I just canceled my last subscription (Amazon Prime). My family have been buying our favorite TV series from thrift stores. But we mostly watch YouTube. There was no point for us to hang on to our subscriptions. If we need something bad enough from Amazon, we just add it to our cart until we reach enough for free shipping.

    19. I have two. One music, which I use at least 10 hours a day. The other is iCloud backup, which I also use daily.

I cancelled everything else. Too many free options to really need a lot of paid services.
