I can't find them. I know I let myself into the house, but I think maybe I left them in the door, because I can't find them anywhere no matter how hard I look. I guess I ought to get the locks changed just to be she but isn't that expensive? Oy I wish I knew where they were. I've already dropped $200 to get back the use of my car. What do you guys think??? Any suggestions???
Someone may have stolen my keys. What are some frugal ways I can protect my home and car?

Personally I use tiles – they’re not super cheap (I think about $40 when I last bought one) but I’m incapable of keeping track of keys and being able to find them is worth that to me
Depending on type of lock, you can buy a reasonably cheap replacement and do it yourself
You can rekey your locks for under $10 using kits from Home Depot and Lowe’s.
AirTags or similar on your keys (I used to recommend tile, but now they’re owned by Life360, a legitimately horrible company).
And rekey your exterior locks.
Put in a keyless
Did you try your local dealer for the car? E.g. if a Toyota car, ask the Toyota dealer if any keys were dropped in. Used to be common. Obviously, try your local police station etc.
Hope you find them, a car locksmith might be able to make another key ( also ask dealer).
I wouldn’t stress too much, cars get stolen without keys…
I would change the lock and drop an AirTag in your car until you can get a replacement key
Pull the core, pull the pins, reorder the pins or get new pins. Cut a replacement key.
Or if the lock is a cheap enough set, just replace it.
Disconnect your car battery
Security should not be taken lightly. It is one of the few things you should not be frugal with.
AirTag
this is where you plan things ahead of time and you put a tracker on your keys… or a tracker in your wallet…or putting a dash cam in your car. All things that require forethought and should be done.
You can change your locks and reprogram your car keys. It’s not hard to do, just takes a while. You obviously need another car key to do it.
Are you sure they weren’t kicked under the couch or in a random jacket or fell behind something? I lose my keys all the time.
