Have always bought GSA auction cars in the past. Now prices have seem to doubled and no sign of getting more reasonable so giving up and just looking to buy a new car but many very cheaply made now.

What 2025 Small / Midsized SUV do you think is the best Value and most reliable to last?

So far have looked at Subaru Forester, Outback. Honda Crv, Toyota Rav4. Mazda Cx5 and CX50.
Not really impressed with any of them.

Just kind of feel sick of spending $30k+ on a car that could potentially be plagued with recalls or problems. Have never spent over $5k to $7 on GSA cars over the last 30 years. Now you can't touch one for under $15k in very rough condition.

If you were going to spend $30k+ on a new SUV what would you buy and why?

What is the best Small / Midsized SUV for the money?

Idk if it is in this category but i love my 2022 4 runner sooo much. I went from a rogue (do not buy anything with a cvt) and its like a dream. I bought it used last year, it holds it value better than most. It can last forever if you want it to. Tried and true engine (not the new 2025 release) powerful, high up, not too long. There is an entire community around modifications. 4wheel drive, towing, slightly less tech (which i prefer). I live in a suburb and it is one of the most common cars.

Other than that, tesla model y’s are pretty cool, very opposite to my 4 runner lol

I have a 2024 Subaru Crosstrek bought new. $28K. I went from a slightly larger Ford that had massive issues. I have tons of friends with various Subaru models: Crosstrek, Outback, Forester. No one has any issues. We live in area with real winters and the Subaru AWD is excellent. My Crosstrek is an excellent daily commuter. If you’re a taller guy, maybe too small? I don’t know. This car is awesome and it’s worth every penny.
