I am looking to really challenge myself on what I really need next year and am finding myself a little lost when it comes to cleaning supplies.

I have cheap marble and laminate and wood counter services. I have tile and hardwood for floors.

I have a robot who mops/vacuums my floors.

I am wondering what is really needed to clean a house.

I figure I need a disinfectant for the surfaces and some scrum removal for the tub/shower.

I hear about baking soda and vinegar, are these disinfecting? I've heard hydrogen peroxide, is that too harsh for marble?

I figure I only need to cleaning solutions: one to disinfect and the other to remove soap scum.

    What would you use?

Need advice on what cleaning products are really needed.

    1. In my bathrooms I have Pine-sol and the stuff you squeeze inside the toilet bowl: that stuff will take out anything, it even unclogs my drains.

    2. A bottle of Dr. Bronner’s is all you need. That stuff works for almost everything. Vinegar does not disinfect. Use rubbing alcohol 70+%

    3. Prestigious-Tap9674 on

A “cleaner” (whether that be dr brokers, Meyers, dawn powerwash), A disinfectant (70% alcohol or lysol), then anything specialty (toilet bowl cleaner, glass cleaner, stainless steel polish, stone sealant, etc).

I use Weiman granite and stone disinfectant as my main cleaning chemical, then dawn powerwash.

    4. DeflatedDirigible on

Soap scum only happens when you use soap. I use body wash instead. Conditioner will build up eventually and I use a small piece of magic eraser. Everything else I use Dawn for…even the windows. My floors don’t need mopping because outside shoes come off at the front door.

    5. Gobleachsomething on

microfibre cloths and powder laundry detergent will clean everything from floors to windows to soap scum in the bathroom. a bucket of hot water with a teaspoon of powder laundry detergent and youre set1

I’ve gotten down to three multitaskers and then some I use only for a deep clean/company:

      – Dawn spray – grease cutter and general cleaner for all kinds of things, I splurge on it compared to normal liquid because I find the convenience worth it

      – *Spray bottle* of ready to use no rinse Murphy’s oil soap use with Swiffer with reusable pads by just spraying and wiping with the Swiffer – works to clean hardwood, laminate and ceramic tile floors, wood surfaces, and leather/vinyl

      – Spic and Span – multi surface disinfectant and grease cutter: kitchen, bathroom and painted surfaces/plastic/glass surfaces that need disinfectant and/or to break up oils on

I have some other things for more in-depth cleaning like glass stovetop cleaner and granite and marble specific cleaner plus protection as well as a stronger mold and mildew spray for the bathroom. Daily maintenance I could stick to just those three.
