    Jeff Bezos reportedly launches new AI startup with himself as CEO


    After stepping down as Amazon’s CEO four years ago, Jeff Bezos, the billionaire founder and former chief executive of the online shopping company, is going to be a CEO again. This time, Bezos has appointed himself co-CEO of an AI startup called Project Prometheus, the New York Times reported, citing anonymous sources.

    The startup, which will focus on developing AI for engineering and manufacturing in various fields, has already received $6.2bn in funding – more than many companies are able to raise in their lifetimes. Leading the company alongside Bezos is his co-founder and co-CEO Vik Bajaj, a celebrity tech executive in his own right. Bajaj is a physicist and chemist best known for his work at Google’s moonshot factory, X, where he founded the health startup Verily.

      It does seems like Bezos is just trying to ride coattails. Whether its his rocket company, electric car company, and now this. Trendsetter, he is not.

      I get having motivation and passion but these people truly just want as much money and power and sense of importance as possible

      If I had but 2mil of AMZN shares I’d be traveling and chilling every damn day not working myself to death

      2. claude replies: “$6.2bn”
      3. Bezo: cool. (writes check)
      4. Vik walks in room: hey Jeff what stupid thing you asking Claude for this time?
      5. Bezo: we’re starting a company, and just funded it $6.2b as that’s how much we need to scale.

      Seriously, who’s doing the cost model for all these guys nowadays?

      Project Prometheus? Jesus fucking christ, name a more iconic duo than tech billionaires and thinking of the most self-aggrandizing bullshit names for companies while they do their best to absolutely fuck us all.

      If he’s focusing on tools to integrate AI into industrial robotics (dunno what “engineering and manufacturing” means) then that’s cool and there’s definitely market there once the control systems advance.
