Sounds like getting it fixed is minimum $250. 90% of the time I use my phone plugged into the aux. Instead of spending to replace the sound-system, what if I just got a nice Bluetooth speaker that would be sufficient for the interior of a small sedan? What am I not thinking of? What’s a good model of BT speaker that would not be obtrusive, sounds decent, around $50, and would auto connect while plugged into the cigarette lighter?

Radio went out in my car- Bluetooth speaker instead?

    1. What kind of car?

I have this problem in my Matrix. I just pull the fuse and put it back and it fixes it for a few weeks.

The radio on my mom’s car went out and I was able to find an aftermarket radio with bluetooth for something like $75. Then bought an adapter harness for $10 and a mounting kit for $10.

Install is pretty easy, the stereo manual will tell you which color is what, but basically just matching the colors of the two harnesses together. Not the easiest thing in the world, but not super hard either. Plenty of YouTube videos to explain how. Hardest part is really taking dash panels off, but again, YouTube will help there.

Watch a few videos on dash disassembly and wiring up the harness and see if you’re up for it.

    3. I bought a device which connected to my phone via Bluetooth and played on via car radio. I have an older car 2007, without aux, and it was the cheapest option. Sound quality is fair, not great, but I think I spent only $20 or so

    4. If the troubleshooting others have suggested doesn’t work, you could always check a pick-a-part near you and get a radio removal tool for your vehicle. If it is indeed the radio itself.

30$ android Bluetooth stereo on ebay and a wire harness plug for your car and 2 hours setting it up.

    6. What went out? You can probably get a head unit with bluetooth for $50 or so and install it yourself.

    7. I found an aux Bluetooth adapon Amazon for like 15$. It works just as good. Not sure if Aux is going out as well?
