I'm a single parent with two kids and I have to make every dollar stretch, when I bought my used minivan last month the finance guy spent 45 minutes trying to sell me an extended warranty for $5,400.

I kept saying no, I can't afford that right now but he kept dropping the price, $5,200, then $4,900, then $4,600 but I still said no cause even $4,600 is a huge chunk of money for me.

Got home and couldn't stop thinking about it though, the van has 78k miles and if something major breaks I'm completely screwed. So I started googling and found out you can buy these warranties from other places, not just the dealer.

Spent two hours comparing prices and coverage then found omega coverage for $3,600 through chaiz, even better protection than what the dealer offered, same deductible but more stuff covered and I literally saved almost $1,800 by spending two hours researching instead of buying at the dealership.

That's groceries for like two months for us, or new shoes for both kids, or actually being able to save something and I felt so dumb for almost paying way more just because I didn't know I had options.

If you're buying a used car please please please compare prices online before you buy anything from the dealer, they mark everything up so much and count on people not knowing better, like you shop around for everything else right? why not this?

Affordable car coverage can be so overpriced at dealerships ( did some research)
